It was wonderful to hear and record my first hermit thrush, sage sparrow, house wren, Prairie falcon, Brewer's sparrow, chukar and California quail. One of my richest memories occurred early in spring, recording western grebe at Salmon Arm Bay, while they performed their elaborate courting ritual dance on the surface of the water. The Okanagan is truly a special place for bird species.
