Victoria and Vancouver Island

J Hanus & J Hanus

British Columbia's largest island was first touched by Europeans in 1778. It was Captain James Cook who sailed and explored the surrounding waters and Nootka Island. Sixty-five years later, the Hudson's Bay Company pioneers along with Roman Catholic miccionaries anchored off what is now Clover Point and established Fort Victoria at the loction which the natives call 'Camosack' which means 'Rush of Water'.

This beautiful souvenir book offers views similar to what might have been seen by these early pioneers - ancient trees, windswept beaches, rocky shorelines, while also showing the beauty of today's modern culture.  Wonderful full colour photographs are enhanced with interesting text describing picture perfect scenes across the island. An excellent gift for any visitor or would-be visitor to Victoria or Vancouver Island.
