A dynamic place. An impressive landscape. A special world. These are the Rocky Mountains - a land of beauty, of power and of energy. A wild expanse that inspires awe through its height and its history, its vitality and its splendour. Wild Light presents a fresh portrait of this spectacular region. As well as capturing the grand scale and the dramatic vistas, photographer Paul Gilbert offers up the colours, textures and atmospheres that combine to create the special character of the Canadian Rockies. From intimate studies of delicate wildflowers to flowing scenes of alpine rivers to rich images of the varied seasons, the photographs glow and sparkle with intensity and light. For nearly three decades, Paul Gilbert and Kathryn Graham have been hiking and photographing the Rocky Mountains. They have followed the contours of the land, felt the touch of the wind, come face to face with the wildlife, listened to the quiet, and watched the turning of the seasons. Over the years, these experiences have coloured their perceptions and enhanced their appreciation of the unique spirit of the Rockies. The result is a vibrant portfolio of eloquent images and expressive text. Wild Light reveals the glowing light, the rich colours, the distinct details and the dramatic landscapes that evoke the essence of Canada's Rocky Mountains. Paul Gilbert has been a nature photographer for 25 years, travelling extensively throughout North America for up to 8 months a year. He has been photographing in the Rocky Mountains since he first picked up a camera, and he still considers the region to be one of the most spectacular on the continent. Kathryn Graham is a writer and artist who is Paul's partner in business and in life. Travelling throughout North America feeds her love of wild and beautiful places, as well as providing inspiration for her writing and artwork.
